We are seeking a Robotics Mechatronics Engineer to join our clients medical robotics team. This role will be a blend of hardware fabrication and software design leveraging mechanical, electrical, software, and controls. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge medical robotics technology while directly shaping how it is showcased to the world. Your solutions will be essential to delivering responsive, capable, and reliable systems that operate around patients and become an extension of the clinicians in a real world medial application. This is truly an exciting role! 

 What You’ll Do

  • Design. Control. Test. Integrate. Mechatronics in a nutshell, you’ll do all of it!
  • Hands-on testing and troubleshooting – commission, calibrate, and debug mechatronic systems, sensors, and robotic assemblies.
  • Collaborate to create test plans to prove repeatability, reliability and report on performance.
  • System understanding and improvement. You’re in the middle of it all and will have a unique point of view.
  • Data-driven validation – collect and analyse test data to quantify repeatability, reliability, and performance drift. Combine data with best practices to optimize complex or constrained hardware components to meet performance requirements.
  • Design and build support – assist with CAD updates, prototype fabrication, wiring, and integration of hardware modules.
  • Motor Tuning and optimization. Sensor integration. Cross-functional collaboration – work alongside senior engineers in mechanical, electronics, and software teams to implement upgrades and fixes.
  • Ensure seamless integration of perception, planning, and control components to enable robust robot operation in complex, semi-structured environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, applications, product, and systems teams to deliver key robot capabilities, performance benchmarks, and feature milestones.
  • Champion quality, reliability, and real-time performance throughout the design.
  • Enable engineering standards, and development processes that enable rapid iteration while ensuring long-term maintainability.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in robotics autonomy, controls, and AI, and identify strategic opportunities to adopt and integrate new technologies.

 About You

  • Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics,Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience delivering production robotics / automation systems, ideally with real-world deployment at scale or equivalent advanced degree experience.
  • Experience in at least 2 of these areas: mechanical design, electrical design, controls, C++
  • Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver highly integrated robotic systems.
  • Mindset: You’re hands-on, curious, and enjoy understanding why things work — and how to make them work better.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Passion for building impactful technology that improves the lives of real users.
  • Demonstrates high energy, availability, intrinsic motivation, and focus to drive intensely.
  • Comfortable with mechanical assembly, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  • Basic experience with embedded systems or data acquisition.
  • Able to read schematics and interpret CAD or mechanical drawings.
  • Practical debugging and test-equipment skills (oscilloscopes, multimeters, motion controllers, etc.).
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the USA.

Bonus Points

  • Experience delivering robotics systems in medical, manufacturing, or other semi-structured domains.
  • Familiarity with Medical compliance and/or medical device product development
  • Experience with precision motor drive, board design, linkage design.
  • Familiarity with vision systems, metrology, or camera-based alignment.
